This is a very challenging time for so many people and so many small businesses. We love supporting local and wanted to do our part in showcasing some fantastic small businesses.
.
This week we are speaking with July Hiebert, the owner of Cocina Sabrosa To Go. She operates a home- based business in Abbotsford, preparing authentic home made food with a touch of love and a little taste of Paraguay and Mexico. From Empanadas, Milanesa, Alfajores, Conchas, Chipas, Churros, Flan and home made salsa there is lots to try. She is food safe certified and has contactless pickup. Her food is currently only available for pickup in Abbotsford. But I promise you, you wont be disappointed if you make the trek. Many items can be frozen and reheated as well.
You can find Cocina Sabrosa To Go on Facebook.

What made you choose this type of business?
I love cooking and my friends and family always enjoy what I make. One day at a gathering they said to me I should make my Empanadas for sale, and so my journey began. It allows me to do what I love and also be available full time for my family..
What is your favourite small business (aside from your own)?

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
If you have a dream and are passionate about something, just go for it. When you do what you love, you never see it as a job. And always follow your dreams. The Journey might not be easy but we have to try and never give up.

Oh gosh I can’t really think of one. I just love meeting new people all the time and be able to be a part of them by cooking something delicious with the best ingredient, that is love.

Thank you to July Hiebert for participating in this week’s Small Business Sunday.
I have ordered churros and empanadas from July on a few occasions. And it is always such a treat. I would say her signature item is the churros. You can get them regular or filled with Dulce de Leche (Caramel Spread). She even does gluten free on certain days of the week (note: not celiac approved kitchen). Her empanadas are available in multiple flavors, ham and cheese was our favorite. I cant wait to try her other items like the chipas and the homeade salsa. She seems to add new items to the list periodically, so there is always something new to try!
If you are interested in placing an order just message her through the Cocina Sabrosa To Go facebook account.
