This past weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Bloom & Brunch Festival at the Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen atop the Banff Gondola. This wonderful event is presented by Pursuit Jasper Banff Collection.
This was opening weekend, but don’t worry, this delectable buffet brunch is available Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 2pm, every weekend until June 4th.
This event is perfect for Mother’s Day, a Mother-Daughter getaway (like my mama and I did), girls weekend, weekend away with your love, or any reason to treat yourself.
BRUNCH
You will find a buffet of deliciousness, starting with the waffle station made to your liking with toppings from fresh fruit to smarties and skor chips, hot and cold dishes from both breakfast and lunch categories, a desert station, and even a donut wall! Gluten free, Dairy free and Vegan options are available.
DRINKS
Each (adult) meal comes with a mimosa to start your dining experience. Teas, Coffees, Juices, Pop and water are all available as well. Other cocktails are available at an additional fee.
GETTING TO THE TOP
The gondola can hold up to 4 people and is on a continuous loop so there isn’t a long wait. You are able to purchase tickets for the gondola at the bottom, but it might be worth it to purchase ahead of time with a loading time, especially if you have made reservations for the brunch. It takes approximately 8 minutes to get to the top.
Hiking the sulphur mountain trail is also an option but definitely check trail conditions as there is still snow on the mountains but it is melting and can cause for some slippery conditions. On the plus side, you can ride the gondola down for free.
THE EXPERIENCE
I guarantee that you will never experience brunch with a better view. With floor to ceiling windows all around, you are surrounded by the gorgeous Rocky Mountains. I have lived in Alberta my whole life, and they still take my breath away. There is a live DJ playing non stop tunes that paired perfectly with the ambiance. There are flowers throughout for perfect photo ops. Take your time, enjoy the experience, the view, the music, and the food.

WHILE YOU ARE UP THERE…
Don’t forget to take in all that Sulphur Mountain has to offer. Enjoy the outdoor patios and observation decks. Hike the boardwalk up to the summit of Sulphur Mountain and the Cosmic Ray Station. Learn about the animals found in Banff National Park at the indoor discovery centre. Check out souvenirs in the gift shop. Whatever makes you happy, there is no rush to get down.
