We are all in the middle of practicing physical distancing, and while this time is very challenging for everyone right now, it is especially difficult for small businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we need to support them however we can, so every week we will be featuring some of our local small businesses.
Welcome to Small Business Sunday! Today we are featuring AMI Munchyables, which is a small, in-home, business located in Spruce Grove, Alberta. AMI Munchyables offers tons of personalized items from t-shirts, teethers, cups, resin made keychains, and tons more – the possibilities are endless!
AMI Munchyables can be found on Facebook here or you can also find them on Instagram. AMI Munchyables ships to both Canada and the USA, and they also do weekly deliveries to surrounding areas such as Edmonton and even as far as Drayton Valley.
What is Unique About Your Business or What Made You Choose This Type of Business?
One unique thing about my business is that it is solely run by myself and I offer a ton of personalized products, so everything feels a little more special while making and sending out.
I decided to choose this because ever since I was a kid I was a crafter. I never stopped. I always tried to start up a crafting business as far back as high school but things got in the way, bring us to May 2019, a few months after my first little was born, and it inspired me to purchase my first set of items to personalize her very own teether, which then turned into others wanting some made too, so I decided to start this up. After that, I slowly started adding a ton of other personalized and handmade items, more so recently, when I was gifted my Cricut for Christmas.
What is Your Favourite Small Business (aside from your own)?
To choose just one is extremely hard because I support so many, but I think my all-time favourite is Lil’ Threadz Boutique out of Edmonton. Her hand made clothing for littles is to die for, and has made my daughters obsessions come even more to life!
If You Had One Piece of Advice to Someone Just Starting Out, What Would It Be?
If I had advice for someone wanting to start, it would be to just go for it and don’t let anyone discourage you. You are going to deal with rude people, sadly, but don’t let that stop you, There are hundreds more who will appreciate your hard work! Also, never give up, and always interact with your customers no matter what.
What Are Your Long-Term Business Goals?
I’m not exactly sure. I never even expected to get this far! I would love to have a product of mine in every province and state. I love seeing my products travel, by far the coolest part; or maybe one day upgrade to a bigger craft space like a warehouse, but those are huge dreams!
What is Your Funniest/Weirdest/Most Memorable Experience With a Customer or Client?
I think my most memorable moment with a customer/client isn’t just a pinpoint of one; I think, overall, when I get to interact and become, not just a person selling my items but, a friend, I have made many – that is by far the best.
