BabyGoRound is a registered non-profit that distributes gently used baby gear to families in need across the Lower Mainland. We are a small, but dedicated group of employees and volunteers working to provide the essentials for local families welcoming a new baby or struggling to obtain the necessary gear for their young children. Expecting parents are referred to us through one of our 80+ partner agencies, such as health clinics, pregnancy centres, and women’s shelters, across the Lower Mainland. The families that come to BabyGoRound are often living below the poverty line, are newcomers to Canada, or are facing other challenging life-circumstances. We aim to alleviate the financial and mental stress that often accompanies a new baby. BabyGoRound is unique in that we give clients an opportunity to choose the baby gear that suits them from our store-like facility. Last year BabyGoRound supported 835 families across the Lower Mainland and distributed over 4,000 pieces of baby gear. Since opening in 2012, we have supported over 5,000 families. We couldn’t do that without the active involvement of our volunteers and donors!
Volunteers are the backbone of the BabyGoRound team. Volunteers at the facility guide clients through their appointment and often help sort through and organize the donations we receive. We welcome anyone – a friend group, a family, or a club – to come volunteer with us! Another way to volunteer is to become a Community Champion. Community Champions act as drop-off locations for donations in different areas across the Lower Mainland. Once -items have accumulated, the Community Champion
may request our volunteer driver picks up the donations and brings them to the facility.
Donations of new and gently used gear are graciously accepted, as the items we give out to help our clients come from community members like you! An extra stroller or bassinet sitting in your storage room could change the life of an expecting mother. If you do have items to donate, please make sure they are in good working condition as we have very limited staff and disposal of broken or unusable items represent a significant cost to us. Donations may be made during our open hours at 2939 Kingsway between 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You may also email us to connect with a Community Champion in your area if you are not able to make it to the facility during our open hours. A full list of what items we are currently accepting for donation can be found on our website.
