Inspired Go

As a first time mom with a busy toddler, sometimes mealtimes, especially breakfast and lunch, can be hard to figure out; in fact, I have always struggled with lunch ideas, let alone healthy lunch ideas. So when I had the opportunity to work with Inspired Go, I had to jump on the chance.

About Inspired Go

Inspired Go is healthy meals, made easy. They are dedicated to bring healthy meals delivered to doorsteps across Western Canada with an unmatched menu. At a little oasis in the heart of Coaldale, AB – the Inspired Greenhouse grows Canadian lettuce all year round (even in the cold winter months). Robotics are used throughout the greenhouse enabling Inspired Go to grow the cleanest greens around. This is an 11 acre garden that eliminates the use of dirt and pesticides and allows Inspired Go to grow sustainably 365 days a year!

My Experience

The entire experience with Inspired Go was so easy. I didn’t have to go in and order my own meals but I have spent quite a bit of time on the website in the last couple of weeks looking at their different meals and from choosing your meals to placing an order, it is super easy and quick to order a weeks worth of meals. Currently, Inspired Go only delivers within the city of Edmonton, city of Calgary, Saskatoon, and Vancouver and surrounding areas (North Van, West Van, Burnaby, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, White Rock, and Richmond); so that can pose a challenge if you live outside of these areas. As I live outside of the city of Edmonton, I did have to have my order shipped to a friends house in Edmonton and pick it up from there – but expanding delivery services is something that is being worked on, so hopefully we will have delivery to surrounding areas soon! They do have a form on their website to request that your city is added.

Despite having to have my order shipped to a friends house, I was so impressed with the packaging and the quality of the salads that I would hands down order again. They offer a one-time order or a subscription where you can choose the frequency of the delivery. Delivery is free as long as the minimum order amount has been reached.

My order was packaged in an insulated bag with an ice pack in the bottom to help keep my meals for up to 6+ hours. This is particularly helpful if your order happens to come when you aren’t home to unpack and refrigerate it right away! And the patent packaging ensures that the salads will last up to 7 days.

The salads are packaged so well. They come in a large plastic container that houses the salad in the bottom and on top of the lettuce is a little container of sealed dressing as well as another small package that has separate sections for all of the different toppings for the salad that is also sealed, so if there is something you aren’t necessarily fond of, you can omit it from the salad! I also like that the packaging that the salads come in works as a bowl too. I found I was way more likely to grab a salad from my Inspired Go order with the ability to eat directly out of the container that it came in rather than make a bagged salad from the grocery store that often go bad in my fridge.

The lettuce and all the ingredients were very fresh and crunchy. They offer salads that would be more conventional like a Caesar salad but also salads that might not include items that you would think to put together or have the ingredients on-hand such as the Green Goddess salad. It has carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, radish, cheddar cheese, red pepper, artichokes, pea shoots, dill, basil and more. They offer something for everyone and frequently change up their menu to include seasonal relevant items.

Again, I love how easy these meals are for the busy mama and how quick and easy clean up is. I know that I would rather not spend all of my time in the kitchen prepping, cooking, and cleaning up.

Inspired Go

Not only does Inspired Go specialize in salad kits, but they also have great breakfast meals as well. My entire life, I struggled with breakfast time. Luckily, I was able to try a couple of different breakfast options.  I was able to try the Berry Granola Power Bowl kit which included blueberries, strawberries, a homemade lentil and seed granola mix, and a homemade berry compote. I enjoyed mine with Oikos Vanilla Greek Yogurt but you can also add it to oatmeal. Speaking of Greek Yogurt and oatmeal, you can also add Greek Yogurt and oatmeal to your order to make your life even simpler by being able to purchase everything at one time! And the best part, my 2-1/2 year old loved the granola bowls – I call that a mom win! Unlike some other meal subscription services these actually were something my whole family could enjoy which as a Mom is great. It can be challenging at meal times when you need to prepared different things for parents and children.

With 3 talented and decorated chefs, Inspired Go is sure to have something to please everyone.

The fact that the lettuce is grown in the Inspired Greenhouse in Coaldale, AB makes this company more desirable to me. I love that they are using local ingredients in their salads that are grown year round without the use of dirt or pesticides. This allows the 11 acre greenhouse to grow sustainably for 365 days a year!

Community Support

Inspired Go also has a community support initiative that has seen over 15,900 meals donated to health care workers and teachers since March 2020. Like many other people, I have always held a special place in my heart for health care workers as well as teachers and I am so happy to see a company give back to these two industries since the start of the COVID pandemic, they truly deserve it.

During the campaign, Inspired Go donated one meal to a health care worker or teacher for every meal box purchased. “We realized there was a lot more socially that we could be doing here, because these are obviously the people that are keeping everybody else healthy” co-founder, Derek Rucki says, “And we have this ability and opportunity to give them one less thing to worry about.”
